Last Tuesday (Feb 24) I had an opportunity to play Bass Guitar at The Cummer Museum Art & Gardens. We opened for Georgia O’Keeffe and Her Times: American Modernism from the Land Collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

It was a 4-piece band including our singer (Keys, Drums, Bass (me) and Singer). We played from 5pm – 8pm with some small breaks in between sets. We played Jazz, Bossa Nova, Latin, Brazilian and Portuguese Music (12-15 different selections) . It was a great evening.

Joyce and the kids came and saw other friends as well. Suprisingly the place was occationally packed and busy, depending on the time slot. The Cummer has many things to offer especially for the kids (lots of hands on activities). Its FREE admission on Tuesday. Visit their site at www.cummer.org

…lately, I’ve been contemplating of giving up riding (I mean getting rid of the Harley) – for various reasons. That’s all my thought for the day.

Christmas Eve morning, getting ready to leave for work. I hopped on my Harley, kicked back my bike stand and I noticed that my shoe laces were untied. SO, I decided to get off the bike to tie my shoe… then this where the fun starts.

I put my foot down, slightly stood up and swung my other leg around to dismount. It didnt even took more than a couple of seconds to I realize that I had forgotten to re-prop my ‘kick-stand’ (what a smart move)… at this point, its kind of hard to ignore when a 1000-lbs motorcycle is leaning toward your direction. So to save me some ache, like my last fall, I let the bike topple to its side (thank goodness for the engine-guards) with me losing my balance as I rolled, and rolled, and rolled out the garage.

It was too funny… I’m glad no one saw me, especially Joyce… she would have laughed… just like when I fell off the ceiling in the garage (remember that?). But its all good, I didnt get hurt… but where’s the camera when you needed one.

Global Warming

Today, I received a call from (or at least posing as) “The Alliance For Climate Protection”, an AL GORE Cult group (just my opinion). He asked if our company was “Green”, so I told him that its kind of somewhat grayish and neutral in color with stucco sidings (but I knew what he was talking about). He didn’t think my response was funny. But in anycase, he had asked me if the company was willing to invest in their latest Technological Advancement that (in the future) humans will be able to ADJUST the Sun’s temperature. SAY WHAT??? So I said, you mean like a thermostat we have at home? Yes, the same concept he said. What a SCAM!!! That’s why GM and these other auto-makers are struggling financially, because they had invested Billions of dollars into these researches (Hybrid Cars for example).

At this point, my “COO-KOO” clock stated going “coo-koo, coo-koo”. Wow, these people actually believe in this Global Warming crap (sorry for the harsh words, especially if you’ve already bought into this crap (oops sorry again)). Actually, I’m more sorry for you. But I’ll eat my words the day AL GORE is able to install a THERMOSTAT in la-la-land…

Multi-tasking…NOT very cool at all!!!

I understand that many women brag A LOT about the fact that they are wired differently from men and that they are able to MULTI-TASK effectively. While I agree to that fact at some extent, some women take that to the extreme. And its irritating. Now, dont get me wrong… I don’t have any problem with women drivers because I know of some men that are in the same predicament.

This morning on the way to work, Jacksonville was overcasted with high-density fog that was forcasted down to zero visibility in some areas. At a stopped traffic, I noticed from side mirror, appoximately about 1000 ft. away, a blue SUV (Ford Expedition – so if you’re reading this blog, SAME ON YOU!!!) slamming its brakes and swerving aimlessly. I moved outta harms way and awaited for the SUV to slam onto something. Well, luckily the lady was able to crookedly stop her SUV… and I can tell that she was very shook up.

I walked up to her to see if she was alright (I genuinely felt bad). But as soon as I got to her, (in my wildest dream) I noticed that she had SPILLED a bag full of make up on her lap and all over the floor and I am gonna say that I saw some on the dashboard as well. I saw a spilt coffee cup and an open cell phone on the passenger seat. WOW!!! To top it all off, she had 2 kids in the back sitting ON THEIR CARSEAT (with eyes wide-open – thinking holy crap (sorry that was me thinking)).

I looked at the lady and shook my head, and walked away. I didnt want to judge the woman, because I don’t know what she’s been through or going through, and I’ve done the same thing, but in a different fashion (eating while driving and/or what not). But I just encourage all drivers to please PULL OVER if you need to put make-up on or even make a phone call. Whether you like it or not, when you mix Muli-tasking and driving… might as well consider yourself a murderer. I know its harsh to say, but if something were to go wrong, you will either kill someone outside of your vehicle of kill a loved one inside.

Please be careful.

Harley Update – It RUNS!!!

- Washed out the debris in my tank
-Reinstalled the new filter
-Cleaned and reinstalled Fuel petcock
-Replaced Sparkplug wires
-Replaced Sparkplugs (pre-gapped)
-Remounted all the harnesses
-Reinstalled the gas tank
-Refitted the left exhaust
-Disassembled and replaced intake seals
-Reassembled intake and carborator (minor rebuid)
-Reset accelerator cables (throttle cables)
-Adjusted idling (need to do more)
-Filled gas tank with premium and additives

Wow what a difference! The bike runs better than I had expected. Mileage is pretty much dead on. All I need to do now is: Change all my fluids (Motor Oil, Trans and Primary), Wrap heat tape around a small gap on my exhaust & Complete Brake Job.

Finally back on the road… and it rains.

Ok, i haven’t blogged in a while because my Harley has been out of commission. My tank and gas has been contaminated by the gremlins. but i finally found an opening in our busy schedule to work on my Harley… and finally got it all done.

I cleaned out my tank (all of the chipping debris), installed new spark plugs, new spark plug wires, new gaskets and a clean filter (the new is on order). I even cleaned the air filter.

finally get all running and it rains… grrr!

Harley Surgeon

Man with the amount of maintenance that I have done to my HD, I consider myself as an official “Harley Surgeon”. They’re not major issues, more wear and tear. But its good in a way, because my HD’s life keeps getting extended every time I do routine Maintenance.

My headlight bulb finally went out after 6 years. I called the Harley ‘stealership’ to find out how much the replacement were and I was floored when they told me it was only $12.00, I expected to pay more.

ME: “Say what?”
HD: Yes, its only $12.00
ME: “Get outta here”, seriously, I’m not in the mood”
HD: Sir, its only $12.00
ME: “for a genuin Harley Part? What’s the part no.?”
HD: #68329-03
ME: “OMG, this has got to be a prank call, oh btw, I was the one who called” “How much was it again?”
HD: $12.00, you want it or not?
ME: “Of course I want it, are you kidding me…” ”But are you sure its only $12.00 and not $120.00?”
HD: Sir…
ME: “Okay, okay, okay… hold one for me…
